Pedroia was born August 17, 1983 in Sacramento, California. He
grew up in Woodland, California and starred at Woodland High
School, before attending Arizona State. He was a 3-time First team
All-Pac 10 selection, the 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year, and the
2003 National Defensive Player of the Year. On August 22, 2006,
Pedroia made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox and
collected his first major league hit. During the 2007 Major League
season, Pedroia was the Red Sox’ starting second baseman. He had
an excellent rookie season, and played a large role in helping the
Red Sox win the 2007 World Series. In Game 7 of the ALCS versus
the Cleveland Indians, he delivered 5 RBI’s, and went on to lead
off Game 1 of the World Series with a home run. He finished his
tremendous rookie season with a .317 batting average. On November
12, 2007, Pedroia was named the American League Rookie of the
Year. Pedroia spends the off-season at the Athletes Performance
Insitute in Tempe, AZ. He recently married his wife Kelli. In his
spare time, he enjoys movies, reality shows, and PlayStation 2.
